Turkey Oreo Balls
I love OREO Cookie Balls, they are extremely easy to make and taste amazing! Plus these Thanksgiving Turkey OREO Cookie Balls are perfect for decorating and will be a nice addition to your Thanksgiving table. Kids will be amazed and will have fun helping you to make these.
I used the official OREO cookie ball recipe, because it is so easy and the cookie balls taste amazing!
It only calls for 3 ingredients, which I got at my local Walmart. All you need is : OREO cookies (flavor if your choice), cream cheese and baking chocolate.
Here is the recipe:
- Ingredients:
- 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
- Make it!
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
- CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills
- REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
And then you need to decorate the cookie balls and turn them into cute little Thanksgiving turkeys, if you’d like your cookie balls to look like mine.
I used candy corn in red (caramel apple flavored) and orange (pumpkin spice flavored) colors and some candy eye balls.
To make the decorating process easier, I suggest that you do not chill the cookie balls for more than 15 minutes, after dipping them into the melted chocolate. This way the chocolate hasn’t hardened completely and you can easily add the candy corn, without damaging the chocolate glaze too much. Place candy corn on the back of each cookie ball, so they look like feathers.
To glue the eye balls on I used some of the melted chocolate, which I placed in a piping bag. You can use icing instead, but I had left over chocolate which worked for me.
For the nose of the turkeys, I cut the white tips of the candy corn and placed then under the eyes of each turkey.
These cookie balls will be great for your Thanksgiving dinner, especially if you have small children in your family.
I’ll be making these for my friend’s son’s birthday, which is just a day before Thanksgiving and I’m sure kids will be pleased.
I’m planning to place them on a tray and bring them to the party. This way they will make a nice centerpiece.
My friend has already told me what she is planning to serve at the parties. She always comes up with amazing ideas, but I would love to surprise her and her with these Thanksgiving turkey OREO cookie balls.
The flavors and colors in these OREO cookie balls are just perfect for this time of the year.
Do you have a fun idea of another way to decorate these delicious cookie balls?
