Homemade Taco Seasoning
This is the way I make my taco seasoning at home, when I can’t find any at the store.
Homemade Taco Seasoning (Makes ~3 tbsp)
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 ½ tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne (optional)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Mix and store in a jar for up to 3 weeks.
Recipe Tips:
- For extra flavor, add smoked paprika, more oregano or a squeeze of lime to the seasoning.
- Make it spicy by adding diced jalapeños or extra cayenne.
- Use different cheeses like Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for variation.
- Protein Variety – try ground turkey or plant-based crumbles instead of beef.
- Extra crunch with crushed tortilla chips or crispy fried onions on top.
- Add some heat – you can add a splash of hot sauce to the ground beef, while cooking.
