Can you eat pork meat rare?
While different researches have shown that good cuts of pork could be safely consumed rare, I personally wouldn’t eat them, unless cooked to a safe temperature of at least 145 F.
Even if cooked through, the meat from pork steaks and even some cuts of chops stays pink on the inside.
What to serve pork with?
I cooked this Baked Pork Steak Recipe together with some mushrooms and onions, but keep in mind, that you can just cook the steak as it is, without any vegetables. Peppers or other firm vegetables could also be added.
Side dishes that work well with pork steak are cabbage salad or any fresh salad, potatoes and steamed or grilled vegetables.
What is the best seasoning for marbled pork steaks?
If you don’t cook pork often, you may be wondering how to season pork chops or steaks.
Just salt and black pepper will be fine in this recipe.
I added just a little garlic powder and paprika, which are totally optional.
Thyme brings some freshness to the recipe.
Other seasoning you may use for pork steaks:
- cumin
- onion powder
- chili powder
- brown sugar

I made this and it was super flavorful and tasty! Great recipe!
What is love oil? I really want to make this!
Haha Robin, I meant olive 🙂 Hope you like it!
I kinda like the name Love oil because I have a great neice named Olive and she is full of Love!
We made it and enjoyed it, but ours didn’t turn out with a rich brown gravy like yours. How did you end up with a thick brown gravy like in your photos?
Did you try to add a little corn starch slurry
Made this a few times and it always impresses. It’s easy and absolutely delicious. Great recipe.
So happy to hear that you liked it! Thank you!
I followed directions but it just wasn’t as flavorful as I had expected. Thank you for the recipe.
Can I use a cast iron skillet?
Yes.
So easy to make, but so good. Very flavorful. I didn’t measure the spices, just sprinkled the steaks on both sides. Will definitely make this again.
Quick, easy and oooh so good. Succulent, tender and full of flavor. Even boyfriend, who is a food critic loved it. Â Be making this again.Â
I made this for dinner last night, and we both loved it. Flavorful, tender meat and super easy to make. I didn’t find the need to tweak the recipe for the next time. I served with roasted potatoes, carrots and onions, but honestly I can think of several sides that will work with this dish.Â
Could you use center cut pork chops?
Yes, these would work
Do you think this recipe would work with boneless pork chops?
Yes, but they may cook a little faster than bone-in pork steak
I just made this and it is very good but like someone else commented the gravy was not that dark nor thick. Next time I’ll twice it and try and get that gravy look.Â
