How to make bacon wrapped chicken kebabs?

  1. Soak 6 wooden skewers in cold water, or use metal skewers.
  2. In a bowl combine the seasoning and olive oil. Add chicken, make sure each piece is evenly coated in seasoning and oil.
  3. Preheat a gas grill to medium heat. I don’t recommend grilling over high heat, because the bacon will drip and cause the flames from the grill to burn it quickly. Clean the grates and oil them.
  4. Wrap each piece of chicken in bacon and thread onto skewers. Each slice of bacon will be enough to wrap 2-3 pieces of chicken. Slightly overlap the bacon then thread onto the skewers. Each skewer should have about 5-6 pieces of bacon wrapped chicken.
  5. Grill skewers for 3 minutes per side on closed grill, turning once, then open the grill and continue to cook, flipping them every minute to crisp the bacon, until the chicken is cooked to 165 F (it will take about 3-5 more minutes).

If you’d like to add vegetables or fruits like pineapple to these bacon wrapped chicken kebabs, you can do so Make sure you add veggies that don’t burn easily, like mushrooms. Adding pieces of pineapple between the bacon wrapped chicken is an option as well, after cooking you can serve with teriyaki sauce. Does it sound good?

How long to grill these bacon wrapped chicken kebabs on a gas grill for?

Grill on medium flame, around 400-450 F for 3-4 minutes per side, until the chicken has reached a temperature of 165 F.

If at this point the bacon has not gotten golden and crispy, you can increase the grill temperature and grill for 2-3 more minutes, with the grill being open and keeping a close eye on the skewers, turning frequently, because the bacon may burn quickly.

Bacon wrapped chicken kebabs on the oven

Don’t own a grill, or simply prefer to make these in the oven? This is possible and they will turn out just as good. It does take longer time to cook these chicken and bacon skewers in the oven.

How long to bake these chicken kabobs wrapped in bacon in the oven and at what temperature?

I suggest cooking at a temperature not higher than 350 F, because the bacon fat will splash all over your oven an make a mess.

It will take about 30 minutes at 350 F for these chicken and bacon skewers to fully cook in the oven.

How to prevent bacon from burning on the grill?

The problem with cooking bacon on the grill is that it can easily burn, due to the fats dripping into the flame of the grill, causing it to fire up. The sway you end up with dark charred bacon on the outside of the chicken skewers, which has an unpleasant burned smell and is not good to consume.

The trick here is to cook these bacon wrapped chicken kabobs on the grill is to cook them at a lower temperature on a closed grill first and then slightly increase the temperature, open the grill and keep cooking, constantly turning them, until the bacon has turned golden.
