Even though I love potatoes, I have been avoiding them ever since I started my low-carb journey. You can find plenty of potato recipes on the blog that I’ve posted over the years.
So when I crave roasted potatoes, I now make roasted radishes. They don’t taste exactly like potatoes, but they definitely don’t taste like raw radishes either.
These radishes make a great side dish for some steak or fish, but also could be served for breakfast with eggs and bacon.
They require a total of 5 minutes prep work and 30 minutes of cooking time.
Ingredients to make roasted radishes?
- radishes
- olive oil
- salt
- black pepper
You can also make a dressing, which is totally optional, but adds some freshness and yumminess to these. The dressing almost turns them into a salad.
For the roasted radish dressing, you’ll need:
- olive oil
- lemon juice
- salt
- black pepper
- garlic powder
- Dijon mustard
- parsley (optional)
How to season roasted radishes?
Roasted radishes don’t really need a lot of seasoning, but if you decide to add some, they take it well.
In this recipe I used just salt and black pepper.
If you’d like to, you can add some fresh or dried oregano, rosemary or tarragon.
How to make roasted radishes? How to cook them in the oven?
- Wash radishes and clean with a brush if necessary.
- Trim the ends.
- Cut in half or into quarters.
- Place radishes in a pan or oven safe dish.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Add salt and pepper.
- Toss to coat.
- Roast at 425 F for 15-20 minutes.
If you are making a dressing, combine all ingredients n a small bowl and whisk to incorporate.
How long to roast radishes for?
Radishes don’t really need a lot of time to cook. But they get watery, so I do roast them for longer time, to get them dryer and golden.
It really depends on the size of the pieces – the smaller they are, the faster they cook.
Make sure you have an oven safe dish or baking sheet that could be used at higher temperature in the oven
Preheat your oven to 425F. Roast radishes until golden on the outside and soft on the inside, for 30-40 minutes.
What do roasted radishes taste like?
Raw radishes are crisp, crunchy and peppery, that could be eaten on its own or added to salads.
When you roast them, a magic happens. They soften, get tender and loose their peppery taste. They get golden on the outside. They take the flavors that you add to them.
Do they taste like potatoes?
These don’t really taste like roasted potatoes, but are delicious. They are more watery and aren’t starchy like potatoes, They have mild flavor.
What to serve roasted radishes with?
These make the perfect Keto, low-carb treat or snack.
You can make a dressing, like the one I did.
You can make a dipping sauce of your choice.
Serve with steak, pork chops, sausage or anything that needs a light, low-calorie and low-carb side dish.

Calories and carbs in baked radishes are low.
The recipe uses 2 cups of raw radishes and makes 4 small serving. Each serving has 2 net carbs and 224 calories.

- 2 cups radishes
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 black pepper
- 3 tbsp olive oil
For the dressing:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 F. Prepare a baking sheet or use a cast iron skillet.
- Wash radishes, trim the ends and cut in half or quarter.
- Add radishes to the baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil. Add salt and pepper.
- Bake radishes for 30-40 minutes, until soft, but not watery.
For the dressing:
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk to incorporate. Serve with the radishes.
