A fall favorite – these orange candy apples are fun and easy to make. Spooky, sweet and delicious.orange-candy-apples-fall-Halloween

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Weather was very nice around here so I spent some time outside.

Orange Candy Apples – this is the best thing I made this weekend! And yesterday I ate three of them! Which reminds me that I was not allowed to have more than one, when I was a child.

Do you like candy apples? I do, but rarely buy/make them! Ever since I saw these in a magazine last week, I’ve been dreaming about candy apples.

These apples are extremely easy to make and they are the perfect treat for fall. I was planning to make Halloween Boo kits for my friends and I’ll also include a candy apple in them.

All you need for these orange candy apples is: apples of your choice – I used gala apples (that’s what I had), sugar, light corn syrup, water and orange food coloring. I just love candy apples made with sweet apples, but if you are a fan of Granny Smith or a kind similar to them.

You can make these in any color of your choice. If you don’t have any light corn syrup in your pantry, most supermarkets in the US carry it. It is located in the baking aisle or by the maple syrup and molasses. Karo syrup will also work in this recipe.

I also suggest that you use a candy thermometer, but this is not mandatory.

A fall favorite - these orange candy apples are fun and easy to make.
Prep: 20 minutes
Total: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Gala Apples, (or any other kind of your choice)
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup, (or Karo syrup)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp orange food coloring

Instructions

  • Wash and dry apples. Insert a lollipop stick one-third of the way into each apple. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
  • Combine water, sugar and light corn syrup in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat and add the food coloring.
  • Continue cooking, swirling the pan until a candy thermometer registers 290 F, or about 10 minutes. Remove pan from heat. Dip each apple into the candy, then twirl over the pan to let the excess drip off. Transfer to prepared baking sheet. Let apples stand for 10 minutes, until set.
