Nothing like your average dessert, this Coca Cola chocolate mousse is made with Coke Zero. It has great flavor, sweetness and a light airy texture. If you watch sports, you know March is all about basketball. And of course, spring is finally here, but you can’t really tell since we got some snow and colder weather in Chicago.
It is time for NCAA® March Madness. My husband and I aren’t huge basketball fans (he is more into power sports), but some of our friends are. One of them – Jack is a Wisconsin graduate, so he is the biggest NCAA® March Madness fan around here.
So being surrounded by basketball fans, we decided to get together and watch the game this weekend.
I love traditional “game style” food like wings and pulled pork sliders, but this time I left the guys make whatever they want.
I wanted to make a dessert for them.
I headed to Walmart to get some drinks and of course Coke, which I needed for my chocolate mousse recipe.
I was very excited to see the Cherry and Vanilla flavors, from Coca Cola NCAA® Final Four Packs they had. I grabbed a bunch of the Coca Cola NCAA® Final Four Packs – Coke Zero, Cherry and Vanilla.
They are also a great deal, you can get 4 packs (16 cans) for $5 or 2 packs for $3. Having them packaged in smaller quantities (of 4) is very convenient.
I was debating if I should make the chocolate mousse with Coca Cola NCAA® Final Four Packs Zero Or Vanilla, but decided to go with the Zero.
This chocolate mousse is so light and delicious, served in individual cups makes the perfect party dessert. The recipe makes 6 small servings, but feel free to double it and store any that is left in the fridge for up to 4 days.
The guys really loved it!
And of course to make my life easier, I made the mousse in plastic cups.
This coca cola chocolate mousse takes under 30 minutes to make and you should also chill it for 30 more minutes. Top with whipped cream, to make it look even more tempting.

Coca Cola Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 packs unflavored gelatin, (7 grams each)
- 4-6 tbsp cold water
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 250 ml Coke Zero, (Coke of your choice) I used Coca Cola NCAA® Final Four Packs
- 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- more whipped cream for decorating
Instructions
- Sprinkle gelatin over a bowl with 4-6 tbsp cold water and let it dissolve for a few minutes.
- In a heat safe bowl, over a double boiler, whisk together egg, egg yolk and sugar and cook for about 8 minutes until thick and creamy, whisking constantly.
- Warm up gelatin and water mixture over a double boiler, until it gets liquid again and add egg mixture.
- Melt chocolate over a double boiler and add to the egg, sugar and gelatin mixture. Let it cool at room temperature.
- Carefully whisk in Coke Zero.
- Place in the fridge for 10 minutes, until it begins to thicken. (Stir 2-3 times).
- Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Add whipped cream into chocolate mixture. (You might want to use a whisk, instead of spatula).
- Spoon mousse into 6 plastic cups. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Decorate with whipped cream, serve and enjoy!
