Chocolate Orange Smoothie Recipe – creamy and nutritious, lightly sweet and full of citrusy flavor this smoothie is great for snack or dessert.

Chocolate orange smoothie in a glass with orange slice

One of my favorite combinations, when baking is chocolate-orange. This seems to be great for the holidays and especially for winter. This time I decided to incorporate my favorite flavors into the Chocolate Orange Smoothie Recipe I’m sharing today.

I love smoothies and make one at least once a day. My husband makes smoothies more often. He has at least 2-3 a day, which is ok, but a little too much for me!

I keep telling him to write down his smoothie recipes (he likes to experiment), so I can try them and possibly share some on the blog, since it has been almost a year with no smoothie recipes here.

Smoothies are quick, easy and convenient ways to nourish your body and enjoy some nutritious stuff.

In this smoothie I used a frozen banana for creaminess and sweetness. Almond milk as the liquid, but any non dairy milk will work. I also used some unsweetened cocoa powder and dark chocolate for the chocolate part and of course fresh orange for the “orange” flavor. I added a date for extra sweetness, but this is totally optional. Almond butter for creaminess and to temper the orange sourness,  and some spinach to make the smoothie nice and green and add more vitamins and iron to it.

As always, I used my Blendtec blender to blend all ingredients until thick, smooth and creamy.
