Tagliatelle with mushrooms in a ceramic bowl

Al dente tagliatelle pasta with mushrooms, bacon and creamy Alfredo sauce. Quick and easy to put together in no time. Perfect for a delicious, effortless, restaurant quality dinner.

This Tagliatelle pasta with bacon and mushrooms has been a family favorite for a while. It is also a great recipe to turn low-carb by substituting the tagliatelle with Shirataki or other low carb noodles.

The sauce is creamy, full of mushrooms and flavorful bacon. Pancetta can be substituted for ultimate flavor.

Either store bought or homemade Alfredo sauce can be used (see recipe notes).

What is tagliatelle? Is it the same as fettuccine?

You may have heard of or even had tagliatelle pasta, but ever thought if this is the same as fettuccine?

Luckily I have quite a few Italian friends and knowledge about Italian cuisine.

The answer is yes, tagliatelle and fettuccine are the exact same thing, just called different names in different parts of the country.

It’s called fettuccine in Rome and Southern Italy, and it’s referred to as tagliatelle in the Northern Italy.

Can you use fresh pasta instead of dry?

Yes of course! I’ve never made fresh pasta though. I do have the attachments for pasta making for my Kitchen Aid Mixer, but I still have to find time to experiment with it.

You can purchase fresh pasta at some grocery stores including Whole Food Market here in the US.

When working with fresh pasta keep in mind that it yields more cooked pasta than the same amount of dry pasta.

One pound dried pasta yields the same amount of cooked pasta as 1 1/2 pounds fresh pasta.

What ingredients do I need to make tagliatelle with mushrooms?

Believe it or not, the ingredients or this delicious pasta are very simple, widely available pantry and fridge staples.

  • dry, store bought tagliatelle pasta
  • cremini mushrooms
  • bacon or pancetta
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • heavy cream
  • butter
  • garlic powder
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Pesto sauce (optional)

Store bought Alfredo sauce (white, heavy cream based pasta sauce) can be used. If so, skip the heavy cream, butter and 1 cup of Parmesan cheese.
