Keto Hot Dogs
Keto Hot Dogs – aka Keto pretzel dogs or Keto Crescent dogs are basically beef hot dogs wrapped in thinly rolled fathead dough, brushed with egg yolk and topped with everything bagel seasoning.
The perfect low-carb snack or meal. Even my 2 year old (who is not on low-carb diet) loves these dogs.
Hmm Bagel Dogs at the mall, have you had them? When I’m in a rush and very hungry the smell hits me and I used to have to get one. Things have changed these days and I constantly work on controlling what I buy, cook and eat.
The good news is that now you can make homemade Keto Hot Dogs (Pretzel Dogs) in just 30 minutes with some simple ingredients.
These low-carb hot dogs can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can reheat them in the microwave or in the oven.
Can you eat hot dog on low-carb/ Keto diet?
Yes, you can eat hot dog meat while on Keto diet. Since they are meat based and low in carbs you can eat them without the bun.
But I have a better idea – why not make a low-carb bun and you can enjoy your favorite hot dog minus the extra carbs. Yes I know, fathead dough does not taste like regular hot dog bun, but honestly I love these so much and I don’t miss the real thing.
What ingredients do I need to make these Keto Hot Dogs?
- 8 hot dogs
For the dough:
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- cream cheese
- salt
- baking powder
- garlic powder (optional)
- Italian seasoning (optional)
- almond flour
- large egg

What kind of hot dogs to use to make these low-carb pretzel dogs?
Any meat based hot dogs, that are relatively low in carbs (and sodium preferably) will work in the recipe. The higher the quality the better. I personally like using all beef hot dogs to make low-carb pretzel dogs.

These were easy to make and I loved the texture of the dough. Making them again soon!
Just made these and they were amazing. Definitely making them again.
I’m so glad you liked them!
Can I make this dough with shredded cheddar?
Hi,
I have not tried it with cheddar, but it may work. Taste will be different.
Is Almond flour very gritty?
I am thinking of doing the Keto diet.
My Doctor says I need to loose 100 lbs and it is so hard.
I keep seeing this diet and think I should give it a try.
If it is finely ground, it is not very gritty.
I find eating clean is also a good way to go. Spend your time eating foods you could grow or raise yourself (not that you have to but that’s a guideline). If it was made in a factory, then leave it as a once a month treat if you must have it. But honestly we don’t NEED any of the foods we crave that hurt us
I thought they were delicious! Kids weren’t impressed but they rarely are. I made them with polish sausage which were twice as long as a normal wiener so I made myself stop at half a serving. Can’t wait to have the leftovers for lunches!
I’ve reviewed 4 times and can’t see your sugar calories.
Where are they coming from?
Think this is a bug in the recipe calculator, going to fix it now. There shouldn’t be any sugar from these ingredients.
Do the keto diet sweetheart, it will change your life!! It is easier to do than a lot of other diets. Just count those carbs and eat enough fat, and stick to it. You will feel amazing!
Sharon I highly recommend the KETO diet. I’ts easy and effective, I have been on it for 3 weeks and have already lost over 10 pounds. Good food and the pounds simply melt away.
Only 1 oz cream cheese? Am I reading that right? Looking to make these next week! Also thinking of using brats instead of hot dogs!
Yes, just 1 oz. Brats will be fine. Hope you like these!
These were amazing. I didn’t have hotdogs so I used brats. Definitely using this recipe again. I also have many plans for the dough for other dishes.
Is this serving size nutritional facts for just the bread or include the hot dog
It includes the hot dog
My family love this recipe. Being diabetic I’m always looking for a lower carb option on the breads and this really went well with our brats on Memorial Day.
Print doesn’t work.
I can not reproduce the issue. It works for me.
Can I make the dough ahead of time and keep in the fridge till ready to use?
Hi Carol, I never make low-carb dough ahead of time, so I can not tell how it will perform after taking it out of the fridge.
so is there ment to be any sugar or not??
No white sugar
I tried these tonight and they came out great. Taste was excellent & the breading was very good. We topped with Chili sauce (no carbs) cheese & onions.. was hit in my family.
Great! Glad you like them!
I made these last night, and I thought they were ok, but just ok. Meanwhile, my husband gave them a rare (for him) but resounding thumbs down. The cheesy bun part was difficult to get evenly rolled and wrapped, and they certainly didn’t look nice. One thing I will give them that raises the rating from a 3 to a 4, is that they nailed the keto macros on the nose!
