Easy Apple Cider Slow Cooker Recipe – a flavorful drink, perfect for fall.

With just a few ingredients, you can recreate this fall drink at home.

This is perfect for busy people – made in a slow cooker.

When it comes to fall drinks, apple cider is my favorite. I have a pumpkin drink from time to time, but I do prefer apple cider.

Made with fresh apples and spiced with cinnamon and cloves, this drink is so light and comforting. I love sipping on it while working around the house. It just tastes like fall!

And I hope this doesn’t sound weird to you, but I like apple cider even better, when it is chilled. It tastes refreshing and helps me get through the day.

I’ve also created a great iced mixed drink with apple cider and pomegranate juice, which I’ll be sharing next. It is something different, but just in time for the season.

All you need to make this apple cider at home is: apples, an orange, cinnamon sticks, cloves and water. And of course a slow cooker (crock pot). I used a 4 quart Crock Pot. All you need to do is slice the apples and orange and place them in the slow cooker. Add the spices and cover with water. Cook on high for 4 hours. Then mash the apples and orange and cook for 30 more minutes. Strain the cider. I’m usually pretty picky about drinks that aren’t strained well, so I do it at least 3 times.

Since the apples that I used were Granny Smith and Gala, the color of this apple cider is really light. You can also add allspice or ground cinnamon to make the color of the cider darker, but I prefer it light.

Easy Apple Cider Slow Cooker Recipe

By Lyubomira from CookingLSL
Easy Light Apple Cider Slow Cooker Recipe
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 4 hours
Total: 4 hours 5 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 4 Granny Smith apples
  • 4 Gala apples, (or other apples of your choice)
  • 1 large orange
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-2 tsp cloves, (whole)
  • 6 cups water, (to fill the slow cooker)
  • sugar to taste - 1/2 cup

Instructions

  • Wash apples and orange and slice into quarters or smaller pieces. Place in the slow cooker. Add cloves and cinnamon and ad water to fill the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
  • Use a potato masher or thongs to mash the apples and orange. Cook for 30 more minutes. Strain a couple times through a fine mesh strainer. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Serve hot.

Notes

Adjust the amount of sugar to your taste. I use 1/2 cup in this recipe, if I want sweet cider. If not, I only use 2-3 tbsp sugar.
This cider has a light color, because of the kind of apples I used and because it was strained many times. To achieve a brown colored cider, add 1/2 tsp grownd cinnamon and 1/2 tsp allspice.
