Even though it is 2023 and there are certain things in the World going on, I’m not going to express any political views in this blog post.

The cocktail tastes amazing, especially if you like vodka, ginger beer and berries. Its name is Moscow Mule. It doesn’t come from Russia, the cocktail was created in the USA.

This cocktail if perfect for the upcoming 4th of July and for grilling season.

What is Moscow Mule?

Have you ever had Moscow Mule? It is a very simple cocktail, made with vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and ice.

The most fun part about this drink is – of course, the copper mug, that it is served in. It helps to keep your drink chilled and looks cool!

This cocktail is very easy to make and if you like ginger beer and berries, you should try it! Just muddle some berries and lime juice together, shake the mix with ice and vodka and pour ginger beer on top. Top with more fresh berries and enjoy!

Feel free to use your favorite berries and ginger beer. This cocktail could be enjoyed all year round. And honestly, you don’t even need to serve it in a copper mug (my opinion), if you don’t have one.

Moscow mule originates from America – the name comes from vodka – “Russian” and ginger beer – “kick like a mule”. Some bartenders call it a vodka buck.

This cocktail is frizzy, sweet and tart with a touch of mint flavor and bonus – fresh berries. It is mild and very refreshing.

How to make Berry Moscow Mule Cocktail?

This cocktail can be made using a shaker, but if you don’t have one – don’t worry. You can just combine everything is a glass.

Ingredients:

  • Vodka – just plain unflavored vodka, the best quality possible
  • Fresh limes for juicing and lime wedges
  • Ginger beer – a non alcoholic carbonated drink with strong ginger flavor
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint
  • Berries of your choice – I used strawberries, blackberries and blueberries
  • Mule Copper Mugs

Directions:

Combine the ice, lime juice and vodka in a copper mug or a highball glass. Add berries and mint. You can muddle the berries, if you’d like to. Top with ginger beer.

Alternatively – shake the ice, vodka, berries and lime juice in a shaker. Pour in a glass (mug). Top with ginger beer. Serve.

How strong is Moscow Mule Cocktail?

The average Moscow mule is not a strong cocktail. There isn’t a lot of vodka inside, there is a lot of ice, ginger beer, which does not contain alcohol, and fresh lime juice. This means, that you may feel free to add some more vodka, if the cocktail seems pretty “weak”.
