Andouille Sausage Appetizer Bites With Cranberry Cheddar - mini bites on a plate with wooden skewers, held in hand.

I’m very excited to share this Andouille Sausage Appetizer Bites Recipe with you today. Somehow the year has gone towards its end and, and the most wonderful time of the year is upon us. It is time to think of my holiday menu.

I like making simple and creative appetizer bites, like these Watermelon Feta Appetizer Bites, Stuffed Cherry Peppers and Cantaloupe Prosciutto Bites.

This season, I’ve decided to spice up my appetizer menu and add these cute and delicious Andouille Sausage Appetizer Bites to it.

These will be a hit on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. They are so simple to make and go well with a nice cocktail.

You may have had Andouille sausage as main dish or an appetizer, but today I added some super delicious cheese to it, skewered them together and topped with cranberry sauce.

The result is amazing – the perfect combination of fruity cheddar, tart and sweet cranberries and smoked spicy sausage. All in one bite, on an appetizer pick.

The reason why these Andouille Sausage Appetizer Bites turned out so good is because I used  Cranberry Cheddar Cheese from Great Midwest® Cheeses. This flavor is perfect for the season. I love cranberries!

Their variety of  flavors is impressive! I was super excited to try the Cheddar Cheese With Habanero Peppers And Mango Flavor.

To prepare this Andouille Sausage Appetizer Bites With Cranberry Cheddar, you need to slice the sausage into 1/2-inch thick slices, then cook in a skillet with some vegetable oil, until both sides are browned. Add a small cube of Great Midwest® Cheese Cranberry Cheddar and top with cranberry sauce (optional, but it completes the unique taste and makes the bites so festive)!

I was planning to grill the sausage, but ran out of gas an had to cook if on the stove top. This actually worked very well. It cooked quick and the house smelled amazing!

I do have a cranberry sauce recipe, and used the same sauce for these appetizer bites, but feel free to use your own recipe or skip the cranberry sauce.

  4. Oh yum, & love how easy this is to make too. Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & sharing.

  5. The picture shows whole cranberries on top but your recipe says cranberry sauce. Would cranberry sauce be too soft to stay on top? If I used whole cranberries would I need to cook or prepare them in some way so they aren’t too bitter?

    1. Hi Linda,
My Cranberry sauce is usually 70% whole cranberries, I don’t mash them. This is why they look whole. It doesn’t happen every time I make homemade sauce, but in the case when I made the recipe, they were pretty much whole, this is why the bites look this way.
