This quick and simple tuna salad with green apple is perfect for sandwiches or as a party appetizer with some crackers.

With just a few ingredients, you most likely have in your pantry and fridge and some green apple you can create a creamy and crunchy tuna salad with green apple.

I personally like mine over a slice of healthy hearty whole grain bread.

Adding green apple to this salad, not only creates an extra crunch, but it adds a little sweetness, sourness and lots of flavor. Just chop apple into small pieces and don’t peel it. It is best if you leave the skin on, since it the majority of apple’s nutrients, minerals and vitamins actually reside in their peel. Rich in antioxidants, this salad is good way to eat an apple a day! You can definitely add some celery in this salad, but I usually don’t.

White tuna in oil can be substituted, but you might need to reduce the amount of mayonnaise you use, since the salad might get too oily. I prefer using white chunk tuna in water.

This tuna salad is great for a quick and easy meal, when you don’t have a lot of time to cook, or make fancy sandwiches. It can be stored in air tight container the fridge for up to 3 days, although mine is usually gone right away.

Tuna Salad With Green Apples

Crunchy tuna salad with green apples. Great for spread or party appetizer.

Ingredients 

  • 1 (6 oz) can tuna in water
  • 3 tbsp light mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 small green apple diced
  • juice from 1/2 lemon
  • juice from 1 lime, (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • chopped green onions for garnishing

Instructions 

  • Place tuna chunks in a medium bowl and fluff with fork.
  • Add mayonnaise and mustard and mix well.
  • Add lemon and lime juice and season with salt and pepper.
  • Add green apple pieces and give it a stir.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.
